It wasn\u2019t until the next century in the 1920s that scientists\u2019 curiosity peaked about this bacteria, and they started attempting to isolate the botulinum toxin. In the 1940s, it was finally isolated into crystalline form by Dr. Edward Schantz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once botulinum toxin was isolated, researchers and doctors across the country began utilizing it to address a wide variety of medical conditions. In 1987, it was used in a Vancouver dermatology\/pediatric practice to address uncontrollable eye blinking and spasming. It was also used to address crossed eyes, also known as strabismus.
